A shocked and stunned Rex Ryan stood at the podium after his team's 10th loss of the season and admitted that his team made him feel "sick." The New York Jets's head coach, eyes downcast after yet another loss — this time going down 16-13 to AFC East rival Miami Dolphins — also said that the team's 2-10 record was a "joke." But the question everyone keeps asking is: Are the Jets poised to fire their head coach?
"I feel sick," said Rex via The Bleacher Report. "We played great for the most part in a lot of areas, but dang, we can't buy a win."
"I can't believe we're 2-10. What a joke," he added.
You can check out highlights of his press conference below, via ESPN.
As SBNation points out, that video certainly makes it seem like the Jets have finally broken Rex's spirit and that he's ready to go:
And it didn't stop there, with Rex going on to explain how much the team was hurting after the year from hell:
Rex: "Every guy in there is hurting. They're hurting for each other and they're hurting for our fans."

Rex's future aside, what was stunning about the game was that the Jets ran for 277 yards with quarterback Geno Smith only attempting 13 passes, a tremendously low number. ESPN's Rich Crimini flat out said that "The Jets played without a quarterback all night," but as he reported, Rex said the team's game plan wasn't a slight on Geno, who Rex had named as the starter over veteran Michael Vick.
"It had zero to do with us not having faith in our quarterback," he said. "It had everything to do with us trying to win the game."
The problem was they didn't win, and with only four games left in the season, it looks like there's little to stop this being the end of Rex's tenure with the Jets. As Turn on the Jets Editor-in-Chief Joe Caporoso points out, Rex's coaching record has taken a huge dip after taking the Jets to two consecutive appearances in the AFC Championship game across 2009-10.
Rex Ryan now 44-48, 16-31 in his last 47, 14-20 vs. AFC East, now with one more 10 loss season than 10 win in 6 years as #Jets HC — Joe Caporoso (@TurnOnTheJets) December 2, 2014
Going 16-31 in his past 47 games is a damning stat. But it may not be the end of the coaching road for Rex if — when — he's fired by the Jets,. As The Bleacher Report's Erik Frenz's story points out, Rex could end up with any one of the "Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons," who could all have coaching vacancies after the season.
Reports also have him ready to move to TV once he's fired by the Jets.
Readers: What do you think? Should the Jets cut bait with Rex? Who would like to see him replaced? Could the team swing a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for Jim Harbaugh?
