Cameron Diaz Dodges Benji Madden Engagement Rumors In Cosmopolitan And Opens Up About Past Relationships

Annie actress Cameron Diaz has been dating Good Charlotte member Benji Madden since spring 2014, but she isn't revealing if the couple will be walking down the aisle anytime soon. The 42-year-old actress is however opening up about what makes a relationship work.

Cameron is Cosmopolitan's January cover girl and she is sharing her keys to a good relationship, so take note. "You have to find someone in the same place as you are. Timing is everything. If you get into a relationship where you want something the guy doesn't want, it's never gonna work," Cameron told Cosmopolitan.

"You're never going to get him to be in that place. No matter how old you are, finding the guy who's in the same place as you are and wants to show up is the only way a relationship works, period."

As for past relationships, the Charlie's Angels alum revealed it is all about learning your lesson. Cameron previously dated Justin Timberlake, who is now married to Jessica Biel and they're expecting their first child together. She has also dated baseball player Alex Rodriguez (from 2010 to 2011) and Matt Dillon (from 1995 to 1998).

"Here's the thing. You make the same mistake over and over again until you learn your lesson. We girls sometimes do the thing where we pick the same person over and over again - they look and seem different, but deep down, they're the same. And that's on us," she explained to the publication.

Now that Cameron is older and wiser, her love life isn't the only thing changing. In fact, the Sex Tape actress revealed that taking the role as Miss Hannigan in Annie was a huge risk for her, since it was her first musical role.

"It was the most terrifying thing I've ever done in a movie. I cried a lot. [Miss Hannigan is] bitter because her chance at fame was stolen, and all she can taste is that taste, which is very much in line with this day and age. People determine your value by how many friends you have on Facebook or if you're Instagram famous," Cameron admitted.
