'The Vampire Diaries' Spoilers: Damon And Elena Over? Nina Dobrev And Ian Somerhalder Ask Producers To Keep Them Apart After Messy Breakup

While Elena and Damon are rekindling their relationship on The Vampire Diaries, it definitely doesn't seem like a case of life imitating art for the stars of the series. New reports are claiming that Nina Dobrev and her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder, who play the star-crossed lovers on the highly popular CW TV series, have not been getting alone so great on the set. It seems that Ian's new romance with Twilight star Nikki Reed is causing some tension between him and his former lover — so much so that Nina is even asking the writers to cut down on Elena and Damon's screen time together.

According to reports from Celeb Dirty Laundry, the two actors allegedly asked the producers to try and keep their characters apart onscreen as much as possible. The site is also reporting that filming their steamy scenes together has become increasingly more difficult as Dobrev reportedly "hates" Somerhalder.

But lucky for them the writers had Damon gone for much of the first half of the show's sixth season, as he was trapped on The Other Side. Now that his character has returned to Mystic Falls, it seems Nina and Ian are having trouble filming their "passionate" scenes together.

The Inquistr is also reporting on the tension, saying that some fans of the series are worried that because of their falling out and since the two don't like working together that the series may be cut short.

The site is also reporting that when Ian started dating Nikki Reed in July, then that was really when all the tension started. While Nina and Ian dated for three years, after only five months of being together, he thinks he has found "the one" in Reed.

Unfortunately this little kid was wildly mislabeled as "feral/not friendly", and had Nikki not gone in and opened her cage regardless, we would have never found out that she is the most loving kitty on the planet and she may have been put down. The point is this; because shelters are so understaffed, this happens more often than not. Let's encourage the people who work at shelters and people whom make policies for shelter workers to take more time to get to know the animals that are brought in, so they can properly inform potential adopters. Also, if you are thinking about adding a new member to your family, know that there might be more to the animal than what's written on their cage!!! Go have fun and adopt! Send me pictures please! We aren't sure how this will affect The Vampire Diaries, as we are sure the end game is for Elena and Damon to be together. Hopefully, the creative team behind the scenes will be able to figure this one out.
