Known as Elly May Clampett to legions of TV viewers, Beverly Hillbillies actress Donna Douglas has passed away at the age of 81. Known for her iconic performance in Twilight Zone, fans have offered their condolences to Elvis Presley's Frankie and Johnny co-star on Twitter.
According to CNN, the Zachary, Louisiana native was confirmed dead by her assistant, Jeffrey Dalrymple. On the popular Beverly Hillbillies, the Night Gallery actress played the voluptuous tomboy daughter, who went off with her poor Ozark family after they stumbled upon an oil fortune and moved to the Southern California. Audiences were then shocked to find out the '50s beauty queen was the mysteriously bandaged patient, who was deemed too ugly for society in the Twilight Zone episode, Eye of the Beholder.
In the biography page of her official website, The Nanny guest star described her time as Elly May as "a beautiful opportunity, a wonderful little door opener for me to share my heart with others, whether speaking in churches, ladies conferences, youth groups, schools, conventions, and various civic organizations, or "one on one." A sliceout of my life. Amazing what God can do with a life, if given the opportunity!"
