After six years, Parenthood finishes this week, drawing the story of the Braverman family helmed by Craig T Nelson, Peter Krause and Lauren Graham - to a close. Stars Lauren Graham and Erika Christensen, as well as series executive producer Jason Katims and writer Sarah Watson have revealed a couple of tasty spoilers and tidbits from this week's "bittersweet" series finale... and it certainly sounds like -- for a series that has its own drinking game for when somebody cries -- you'll need your tissues.
We cordially invite you to the wedding of Sarah Braverman & Hank Rizzoli. Thursday at 10/9c. Bring plenty of tissues. #ParenthoodFarewell

So, Parenthood made everybody cry -- Buzzfeed even list 19 times it made you cry the most -- but series executive producer Jason Katims (who was also behind Friday Night Lights) told The Huffington Post's Lauren Duca that it wasn't *really* on purpose, saying: "I definitely don't say, 'Oh, let's make somebody cry!'"
Like, y'know, the tear-jerking clip below about Zeek's health...
The producer/director explained to the site that in both FNL and Parenthood that there was a method behind all the tears. "There's sort of a sensibility that developed over time and I really think it's such a combination of factors," he told HuffPo.

"Yes, you can read one of the scripts and feel emotional. Absolutely. But the combination of these performances, from the incredible casts that we're getting, along with the stories we're telling, along with the way the scenes are edited and the music. I think it's a combination of so many things that go into it."
"@NewYorkObserver: .@thelaurengraham We're sure going to miss our weekly dose of the Bravermans. https://t.co/XJG4aZbIzi" DUDES, me too.

He explained further to The New York Observer, saying it's to do with how we relate to characters when what they're going through feel real.
"I think that there's this thing that the more personal something is, the more people can relate to it, so I feel like you have to tell those stories, even if they're painful. You can't shy away from them."

As for the finale, TV Line spoke to Parenthood writer Sarah Watson, who said that "It continues with what the mood has always been: bittersweet."

"That's the best way to describe this show," she told the site. "They're a family, they love each other and they come together. We're going to see painful things and wonderful things."
TV Line add that Watson says "the show's producers "absolutely made sure" that the entire family would be together for the last episode."

They also reveal that Parenthood star Erika Christensen told them that a bit of time travel will allow Parenthood fans to "go further into the future at the end of the episode. You get to hit fast-forward on the family."
Watson also told the site that the finale feels "like a beautiful, perfect ending." Nice!

Lauren Graham last week told Today that she was really happy the series finale, saying "I am really happy with it; I think it was a nice journey. For me it started with my character needed to come home, she needed help, she was working as a waitress and she's really grown into her career and relationship, so yeah, it was a nice resolution."
Plus Graham revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers last week the cast shot some of their final scenes "on a baseball field"... but that she shot her wrap scenes with some total strangers.
What do you think is is store for the finale? It airs this Thursday Jan. 29 at 10 p.m. on NBC. You can catch up and binge on episodes here, and check out a preview below.
