Kathy Griffin Quits 'Fashion Police' - Will Late Joan Rivers' E! Show Get Cancelled?

Kathy Griffin quit Fashion Police, and it looks like the show could be nearing the end. Griffin's decision to leave the show follows co-host Giuliana Rancic's comments about Zendaya's hair at the Oscars last month. Rancic's joke that Zendaya's dreadlocks made her look like she might "smell like patchouli oil" and "weed" prompted Kelly Osbourne to quit, but apparently she wasn't the only Fashion Police co-host who felt that Rancic's comments were unacceptable. In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Griffin had some advice for Rancic: "I wouldn't have said the joke in the first place."

"Some dude wrote it for her," Griffin added. "Don't have anyone write your jokes or even suggest jokes for you on Fashion Police. You have enough great insider gossip from actually being ON the red carpet. That's what fans want to hear the next day. Just talk and be yourself." It seemed like a matter of time until Griffin made her exit from the show, which she did in a lengthy tweet.

After seven episodes and only two months on Fashion Police, Griffin's tweet suggests that the Zendaya incident made it clear to her that she had to quit. Griffin writes that when she first took the job, she was "thrilled" to be taking the place of her "beloved friend" Joan Rivers, but the controversy that surrounded the show after Rancic's comments about Zendaya might not have been what Griffin signed up for. "I decided it was time to move on," she wrote. "I don't want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance toward difference."

It sounds like Griffin finally realized what everyone else knew all along: Joan Rivers was the best thing about Fashion Police, and without her, the show might be doomed. It surprising that co-host Brad Goreski has been surprisingly quiet about the Zendaya scandal, but he may be the next to go, leaving Rancic out in the cold. Since it's unlikely Rancic could carry Fahion Police on her own, it's probably best that the show officially ends before this situation get any more embarrassing for Rancic.
