Flying cars might seem like something out of a sci-fi movie or TV show, but according to AeroMobil, we could see a new form of transportation in 2017. This company, which has been developing flying car prototypes since the 1990s, is hoping to manufacture and sell these cars in just two years! Find out more on this story below!

The latest prototype premiered back in October of 2014, but during the 2015 SXSW events this week, AeroMobil announced its big plans.

"We are now scaling up quite fast, building the team, and the plan is that in 2017 we'll be able to announce the first flying roadster," CEO and cofounder of AeroMobil, Juraj Vaculik told CNBC. "The point is not only to showcase that it's possible to marry together a plane and a car, but to really commercialize it."

The CEO added: "We need another revolution, we need a revolution in personal transportation."

According to IGN, the current model will require a pilot's license, but future development on the flying cars will make it so a license isn't needed because the cars will pilot themselves (via The Verge). Vaculik also points out that he's projecting the price of his cars would cost a "couple hundred thousand" euros.

If you're worried about the large price tag on this new venture, Vaculik went on to say that he hoped that the pricing would drop over the years, so it is possible that an affordable flying car is in the cards for us all!
