Casting a new James Bond is always an exciting event for fans of the popular film franchise, and even though Daniel Craig is still going strong and will appear in 2015's Spectre this fall, rumors have been circling one interesting name for the past year or so: Idris Elba. Clearly the fact that Elba is black is certainly a talking point, but the acclaimed actor of BBC's Luther has a huge following, with great support surrounding this rumor. Two big supporters of this rumor are none other than 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Check out what they had to say about the casting rumors!

Speaking with IGN recently to promote the exciting new 2015 film, the producers opened up about this popular casting rumor, explaining that it's a wonderful idea!
"I always say, it's like asking a woman who's going up the aisle on her wedding day who her next husband is going to be," producer Barbara Broccoli joked. "You know, Daniel Craig is Bond, and I don't want to think about what happens when he goes. But I'm a huge fan of Idris -- we all are. He's a great actor, and he could do anything. So ask me when we're looking for a new Bond -- which hopefully won't be for a long time."

Meanwhile, this rumor recently came up again after former 007 star Roger Moore made some comments that were allegedly taken out of context, making it sound like the Octopussy actor said Elba wouldn't work. There was also some racial sub-context to what he said, but he has since attempted to clear up his statement. "A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jr. would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke!" Moore told French magazine Paris Match, according to The Huffington Post. "Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be 'English-English.' Nevertheless, it's an interesting idea, but unrealistic." After news spread that his comments were somewhat racist, Moore took to Twitter to clear this situation up:
An interview I gave to Paris Match implies I said something racist about Idris Elba. That is simply untrue. #Lost in translation. — Sir Roger Moore (@sirrogermoore) March 28, 2015
