Mortal Kombat fans speculated about the Mortal Kombat X roster for months. The rumor mill intensified when Netherealm Studios slowly revealed the Kombatants one-by-one, instead of giving out a full roster reveal at once. It was a game of cat and mouse between Ed Boon's team and the fans. Well here we are a few weeks from Mortal Kombat X's launch and we finally got a full chance to see the complete roster when a Netherealm Studios livestream revealed all 25-selection screen fighters. The reveal included the DLC characters of Predator, Goro, Jason and Tremor.
Naturally, in a Mortal Kombat game you'll have the classic fighters join the mix. Kombat veterans in Johnny Cage, Jax Kitana, Quan Chi, Kung Lao, Kenshi Reptile, Kano, Raiden, Scorpion, Sup Zero, Mileena, Sonya and Liu Kang are all there.
You can check out the entire selection screen here:
Now, just because Liu Kang and Kung Lao are in a Mortal Kombat game for the umpteenth time doesn't mean they'll be delivering the same old style. In the Mortal Kombat X plot, both fighters were left souless by Shinnok and are now controlled by him. We can probably expect a more ruthless move set for the two because of this.
As for the newbies fans will get a chance to take on Jacqueline Briggs, Jax's daughter, Takashi Takeda, Kung Jin, Cassie Cage, the daughter of Jonny Cage and Sonya, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Ferra & Torr and Erron Black.
Black is the most unique character added to the Kombat fray. Never before in the game's history has a fighter been introduced with the background of a western gunslinger. Black has two classic John Wayne styled revolvers and walks around with a shotgun on his back. He's also equipped with grenades, a sword and sand to throw into the eyes of opponents.
Mortal Kombat X will be released on April 19th for Windows, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
