CW's 'The Flash' Ep 20: 'The Trap' Recap: Will Grant Gustin's Barry Allen Discover Harrison Wells' Revenge?

The countdown has begun for the final 4 episodes of The Flash on the CW network. As the truth behind The Reverse-Flash comes closer, will Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) need help from his friends to put his mentor and enemy, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) In 'The Trap?'

Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco (Carlos Valdes), and Barry are reading the future newspaper, the event of his death. The paper is written by Iris West-Allen. Gideon reveals Harrison Wells is here to kill him. With Harrison Wells coming in, the trio tell Gideon to forget they were in the room. Wells arrives when Barry has whisked them away. 

Eddie (Rick Cosnett) and Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) talk about proposing to Iris and asks for the father's blessing. Joe says no and gets a call from Barry. Joe yells at them for being stupid and almost getting caught. Barry reveals he time-traveled and tried to save the city from a tsunami, which explains why Cisco can remember. 

In the flashback, Joe is in the hospital with Barry, when he starts to have a seizure. At that moment, Joe meets with Wells, who says he can save Barry. In the present, Barry has a plan to use Cisco and get Wells to confess to killing his mother. 

Cisco makes an invention to enter his dream and face his fears. Wells has come up with a way to enact the inventions. After the Captain warns Barry not to get married, Eddie shows the engagement ring to him. 

Cisco puts on the visor, enters the dreamscape, and revisits his death. Cisco screams as Wells puts his vibrating hand near him. Wells calls Barry because a fire has erupted. The Flash hs to save the Captain's fiancee from a burning building. He uses his arms as a vacuum and wipes out the flames.

Barry and the others visit the crime scene, setting up the trap. Barry tries to hit the force field and knocks him out. Barry and Joe talk about Eddie's engagement; she's going to marry the wrong one. Those feelings are there; always have been.

Barry meets with Iris (Candice Patton), who shows him all her archives. She knows the metahumans came out because of the particle accelerators. 

Iris remembers telling Barry how she met Eddie and how she got a shock from holding his hand.  Caitlin tells Wells that Cisco is working in the Bunker. Cisco then sees Wells standing on his own two feet. Joe and Barry witness Wells trying to enter through the force field. Barry isn't fast enough to stop the bullet that kills Wells.

Turns out Wells was using Everyman for his purpose. Wells doesn't want to kill Barry, he loves working with them. They will face each other again very soon. Barry fins the time vault empty and realizes it was all a setup. Barry realizes he also knows about Iris. 

Barry runs to save Iris, who is the middle of being proposed to by Eddue. Eddie is knocked down by the Reverse-Flash. Iris feels the spark again, realizing the scarlet speedster is Barry.

After kidnapping him, Eddie wants to know why Wells has his family name; he's insurance. In the flashback, Wells realizes nothing is forgiven; he will kill Barry.
