Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd have always been one of the most beloved TV couples on the small screen, so much so that fans have always been rooting for the two to get together in real life. However, it doesn't look like the couple will ever have their onscreen love imitated off screen. For one thing, Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Grey, is happily married, and new reports are emerging claiming that Pompeo was the one that got Patrick Dempsey fired from his job earlier this year.
According to Radar Online, it seems that Patrick was having an onset relationship with one of the workers and when Ellen found out about it she went straight to Patrick's wife, Jillian Fink, to tell her about it. The site is now saying "Pompeo had nothing to do with Dempsey’s affair going public, or his dismissal from Grey’s."

"Patrick had an inappropriate relationship with a young woman who worked on the set. Ellen Pompeo found out and was angry because she's close friends with Jillian, so of course, she told her," an insider explained to In Touch magazine, however, the link has since been removed from the site, making us think that the rumors were just that, rumors.
However, it doesn't look like these rumors are tarnishing the casts memory of Dempsey as Sarah Drew, who plays April Kepner on the show, spoke out to People at the ABC upfronts early this week and said he would be greatly missed.
"McDreamy's such a part of our family, and he really created the energy of that show," Kepner explained. "We're so sad to see him gone, but we're really happy for Patrick, and we know that we don't have to actually mourn him because we know that he's actually still with us."
Her onscreen husband, Jesse Williams, echoed Drew's sentiments, saying, "We've only done maybe two episodes without him, and he very much feels kind of present, and looms large, as he should."
