There's a new platform out there using controllers similar to the one PlayStation has. Of course this platform isn't very fun and doesn't have the ability to have friendly online competition with other players. As a matter of fact, it isn't a gaming system at all, but a part of a set of new Russian Kurganets-25 IFV tanks that are specifically built for tearing things up and blowing buildings down.

Reports say that the Kurganets-25 has the ability to carry eight people on its back and is manned by a three-person crew that consists of a driver, gunner and commander. It has the ability to reach speeds of over 50 mph and more importantly, the tank is packed with a machine gun, 30-mm cannon and four anti-tank missiles.

Tractor Plants' vice-president, Albert Bakov told the media yesterday he designed the controller specifically for younger soldiers. He wanted their tank experience to run as smooth as possible.

"I spent two years on convincing the designers to make the console similar to a Sony Playstation gamepad, to make it easier for a young soldier to familiarize himself with it," Bakov said.

Bakov then went on to say that the gamepad has been perfected for decades, with hopes that it is integrated in more things. No longer is the controller just a tool for getting your money back from hookers in Grand Theft Auto.

Bakov says one of the best parts of having a PlayStation-like controller inside the tank is that it takes up less space than a steering wheel.

"As it turns out, a steering wheel is dangerous for the rib cage during an impact and when climbing out. It takes up more space but provides nothing," Bakov continued.

As of now the Kurganets-25 IFV (Object 695) tanks haven't hit the streets just yet. The Russian army says they'll begin mass production in 2016 after it undergoes a few trials.
