FIFA President Sepp Blatter to be Questioned by Police in Zurich Over Tournament in Russia, Qatar

This week several high-ranking FIFA executives were arrested by Swiss authorities in a hotel room by the Alps. The group was brought in on conspiracy charges. After the sting FIFA President Sepp Blatter claimed his innocence but Swiss authorities will still be going after him. As of now, they're investigating the votes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. The Swiss Attorney General's office is currently carrying out a criminal probe into how the tournaments were granted to Russia and Qatar.

Andre Marty, a spokesman for the Swiss authorities, says they'll be interviewing ten officials regarding the Russia and Qatar tournaments but those names have not been released. All that's known is Sepp Blatter will be one of those questioned in this investigation.

Blatter will remain in Zurich to be questioned after FIFA's annual congress disbands. He'll be the last to be spoken to in the investigation.

Football Association Chairman Greg Dyke has been outspoken in critisizing Blatter. According to him, he doesn't think Blatter will last as FIFA's chairman.

"I don't think Blatter will last four years," Mr. Dyke said. "I think the events of last week were, as the [US] Attorney General said, the beginning, not the end."

On Friday, Blatter was elected for his fifth term as FIFA's president. As of now he has not been accused of any wrongdoing by either the Swiss or American authorities. All they want from him for now are questions. During his re-election, one reporter asked if he was afraid of being arrested. Blatter quickly shooed the question away.

"Arrested for what," he said. "Next question."
