From the sci-fi author of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Amazon Studios is bringing the online live stream event of their upcoming series, The Man in the High Castle. Straight from 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, WATCH two FREE episodes of the groundbreaking adaptation.
According to the plot synopsis on Amazon's official website, the series is based on Philip K. Dick's award-winning novel. Executive produced by renowned filmmaker Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), the alternate timeline explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII. In this and parallel universe, Japan and Germany rule over the United States.
The cast includes Rufus Sewell (Dark City), Luke Kleintank (Pretty Little Liars) and Alexa Davalos (Mob City). If you need a reason why he hasn't returned to The X-Files Revival, Frank Spotnitz serves as executive producer and wrote the pilot. David Semel (Heroes) directed the pilot episode.
In an interview with EW, The Martian director describes adapting Philip K. Dick's writing to TV, "One of the biggest problems I had in trying to adapt Blade Runner down to its fundamentals was to squeeze it into three hours. And now we're into 10 45-minute or 50-minute episodes, so you have a lot more space, a lot more area to move around in and tell the story. In a funny kind of way, it's a perfect ideal density for Philip, so it was a much easier adaptation over 10 episodes than it would be for one movie."
Entertainment Weekly reports that they have joined up with Amazon to host a special screening for TV fans and convention-goers. The live-stream will air the first two episodes of The Man in the High Castle.
For Comic-Con attendees, the special event takes at the San Diego Civic Theater. In addition to the first two episodes, there will also be a Q&A with the cast at the venue.
At 10:00 p.m. ET, EW will air the first episode that made its debut on Amazon earlier this year, plus the second episode, which has has never been seen before.
