Siri, iPhone users' best friend and question answerer, is now correcting people who call Caitlyn Jenner "Bruce." Users began seeing that if you ask Siri about "Bruce Jenner," Siri responds using "Caitlyn Jenner." And when users ask what gender Jenner, who is being presented with an ESPY on Wednesday night, is, Siri responds definitively "female."
People have realized that the same thing happens if you search "Bruce Jenner" on Google. The search engine immediately provides search results for "Caitlyn Jenner" if you search using the name Jenner used to go by.
Siri and Google are taking big steps in accepting Jenner and using her chosen name. Jenner announced that she is now going by Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair in June. The cover went viral, getting praise from many including Barack Obama. Jenner is filming a new reality series for E! called I Am Cait, which is set to premiere at the end of July.
It's turning out to be a pretty exciting time for Jenner, aside from the Siri and Google updates. On Wednesday night, Jenner, a gold medal Olympian, will be accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs. Abby Wambach, a star player on the U.S. women's soccer team who helped lead the team to winning the World Cup this month, will be presenting the award to Jenner.
Wambach, also an Olympic gold medalist, made headlines when she kissed her wife right after winning the World Cup. The kiss went viral as people around the world called it a massive moment of progress.
"I know that she is positively affecting the transgender community and to be a part of it, to see a small glimpse of it, is going to be really awesome," Wambach said about giving the award to Jenner.
