Audiences have been eagerly binge-watching Marvel's Daredevil currently on Netflix. With the recent casting announcement for Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil, viewers will discover Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox)'s former love, potential enemy, when Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung) suddenly shows up.
As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom cases. But when darkness falls, Daredevil serves out his own brand of justice as he protects Hell's Kitchen from Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).
We have 5 reasons we're excited for Elektra (Yung)'s appearance in Season 2:
5) She Was Jinx!
As we previously mentioned, the G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation action star will play Elektra, the mysterious woman from Matt Murdock's past. We also mentioned, in our recap of Murdock vs. Nelson, in a flashback, the college buddies made a reference to the so-called "Greek Girl," but she was never seen. Not only does Yung look stunning, she can fight with the rest of them!
4) Elektra vs. Punisher!
As we mentioned before, actor Jon Bernthal will play the gun-toting vigilante who intends on cleaning up Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary. Just as he did with Shane on The Walking Dead, we know Bernthal will do wonders as the traumatized Vietnam vet Frank Castle. Though Elektra and Punisher end up on the same team, the Thunderbolts, they never quite see eye-to-eye. Looking forward to seeing these two share the same screen!
3) Elektra vs. Karen Page!
During the first season, both Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Matt Murdock (Cox) had eyes on Karen Page (wonderfully played by Deborah Ann Woll). There was an interesting romantic triangle formed between the threesome, who had the best chemistry when together. Will Karen be the saving grace to Matt, who doesn't think straight when Elektra is around?
2) Bullseye!
Say what you will the Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, but the superhero movie understood Matt, Elektra, and the super villain Bullseye are all linked together. You can't have Elektra without the psychotic card-throwing assassin...or can you? Because the first season had a death count all its own, will there be more dead bodies dropping in the sophomore season?
1) Will Stick Show Up?
In our recap of Season 1, during the episode Stick, Murdock's mentor (played by Scott Glenn) showed up. In the comics, not only does Stick train Daredevil, he also trained Elektra and the vampire hunter known as Blade. If the show follows closely to the comic's origins, will it be student fighting student?
Marvel's Daredevil is available now to stream on Netflix.
Readers, are you excited to see Elodie Yung as Elektra?
