'Gambit' Movie News, Casting Rumors: Channing Tatum Love Interest Actresses Shortlist

Though we've heard some damning rumors surrounding Channing Tatum's upcoming 20^th Century Fox, Marvel comics movie adaptation of the X-Men character Gambit, we have some great speculation to share with you this week. After many reports claimed Tatum was close to dropping out of the project, thus leading us to suggest our top five actors to replace the star, it looks like everything has worked out and Jenna Dewan's husband is still leading the film. This week, a shortlist of actresses has allegedly leaked, with three familiar names on top of the casting list for the 2016 movie's love interest, Bella Donna Boudreaux. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the speculation around Tatum's departure from the project has been put to rest thanks to the actor signing a deal for the movie. Now we just need to fill out the rest of the cast and it looks like producers are started with the leading lady of the film.

For those of you unfamiliar with the character Bella Donna, she is Gambit's main love interest from his past and is often an antagonist for the thief mutant that eventually ends up as a member of the X-Men (via NOLA.com / Deadline).

We have some possible candidates for the role as well! According to numerous reports, rising stars Rebecca Ferguson, Lea Seydoux, and Abbey Lee are the studio's favorites for the role.

Ferguson recently popped into the spotlight thanks to her femme fatale role in the 2015 summer blockbuster Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation. We know she can take part in the action, so we're on-board with this casting idea!

Seydoux has made quite the name for herself in the film festivals circuit, but her upcoming role in the new James Bond movie, Spectre has all eyes on the young starlet. She certainly has the accent for the role and can probably handle the action (she was in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol's coolest fight scenes, by the way), so we like this casting choice, too!

Abbey Lee was featured as one of the "brides" in the breakout hit Mad Max: Fury Road this year, which makes her a familiar face for the right demographic for Gambit. Can she hold her own in the film? We just might find out next year when Gambit hits theaters.
