'Captain America: Civil War' Star Chris Evans Cast in Marc Webb's New Movie 'Gifted'

Chris Evans is making time for other roles in between Captain America installments, the latest of which, Civil War, hits theaters next year. It was recently announced that he will star in Marc Webb's Gifted. Evans has been cast as a man who acts as a surrogate father to his dead sister's daughter. This isn't the first time that Evans has stepped out of his superhero suit, though! Read more about this new movie and Evans' career below.

Variety reported on the actor's roles outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "He recently starred and made his directorial debut in the Sundance drama Before We Go opposite Alice Eve. Evans also appeared in the critically raved sci-fi action pic Snowpiercer," the website says. Evans will suit up again in Civil War next year.

Gifted will be released under Fox Searchlight and Webb will be directing after his last project, which was also a superhero flick, The Amazing Spiderman 2. Webb himself has had a background in more emotionally based films such as the quirky dramedy 500 Days of Summer that was released back in 2009 starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Gifted isn't the only film to be released by Fox Searchlight, there is a second picture that Miles Teller (Whiplash) is attached to star. Deadline says that the film "is moving from Fox Searchlight to Fox 2000, and discussions are underway with Jeff Bridges and Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike to round out an unusual romantic triangle for a film that would shoot next year." Teller would play "a recent college grad who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the young man learns about love," Deadline says. In addition to Gifted, this film would round out the more emotional films for the production company and it will be interesting to see how they do at the box office.

Gifted will be coming to theaters in 2016. As of right now, it is only in pre-production, but sooner or later we will most likely will be seeing a trailer of Evans in a more emotional piece.
