Season 11 of the CW's Supernatural will get underway on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 9 p.m. Eastern, and we've got some more spoilers about the upcoming episodes. When the show comes back, will God help Sam and Dean Winchester battle The Darkness?
In the Season 10 finale, the brothers accidentally released the ancient (and we're talking before God flipped on the lights level of ancient) entity known simply as "The Darkness" when they removed the Mark of Cain from Dean. The Mark turned out to be a lock of sorts that kept The Darkness at bay and without it, The Darkness is free to roam the earth and presumably wreak havoc.
As you can see in the trailer at the bottom of the page, Sam (Jared Padalecki) prays to God for help battling The Darkness. But would God actually answer the call and arrive in Season 11 to help out Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles)?
Padalecki spoke to Entertainment Weekly about that very topic. But before we get to his comments, let's consider a few possibilities. Many fans believe that Chuck (Rob Benedict), the writer of the Supernatural books in the show, is actually God, and there's definitely plenty of evidence to support that. And Chuck did appear in the 200th episode last season, his first appearance since the Season 5 finale.
Also keep in mind that Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) is still alive but trapped in his cage in Hell, and remember that showrunner Jeremy Carver has said the Winchester brothers might need to make some unholy alliances to fight The Darkness.
So here's what Padalecki told EW: "I think [the Darkness] certainly opens the door for Lucifer and/or God to pop up," he said. "We're certainly going back to that and going a bit more biblical and having our take on the writings that didn't make it into the Bible."
"Since we know God's a scribe, we may have to invite him along for the ride," he added.
