The studio's community strategist Eric Monacelli, writer Josh Scherr and lead animator Eric Baldwin took part in this special stream about the Uncharted release, and one conversation quickly resulted in a groundbreaking, unofficial announcement (via Gamma Squad).

Speaking about the facial animation of The Nathan Drake Collection, Scherr mentioned "the first Last of Us," only to quickly stumble over his words and repeat it clumsily.

"All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric, here," he says in the video, according to IGN, "and [on] the first The Last of Us. Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?"

From there, he nervously repeats himself to possibly cover up what he just said, but it makes it clearer that another Last of Us is on the way. Watch this video right here (via Gamepur):

As you can see, Scherr probably messed up big time with his little flub, don't you think?

If The Last of Us 2 is on the way, what do you expect in terms of gameplay and story? The first game was groundbreaking in many ways, so how can Naughty Dog top it? Let us know what you think of this news in the comments section below!
