'Home Alone' 25th Anniversary: Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci Blu-Ray Sets October Release Date!

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing the Home Alone: 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Christmas Edition to Blu-ray and DVD for an October release date. Relive very prank in the holiday classic starring Joe Pesci (Goodfellas) and Macaulay Culkin (My Girl).

According to the official Fox Connect website, the hilarious holiday comedy was written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club) and directed by Chris Columbus (Gremlins). 12 weeks at the top of the box office, Home Alone s introduced the world to child actor Macaulay Culkin. After being left behind accidentally by his family, Kevin McCallister had to become an 8-year-old booby trap maestro when his home was being threatened. Kevin had to to defend his home against two blundering burglars, Harry Lime (Joe Pesci) and Marv Merchants (Daniel Stern).

We also have to mention Kate McCallister (Catherine O'Hara)'s road trip subplot. As she races to get back to her son, Kate ends up sharing the ride with the helpful and good-natured Gus Polinski (John Candy). As we previously mentioned, ABC is in the works of adapting the Hughes flick, Uncle Buck, as a television comedy series. The late John Candy played the ultimate bachelor, Buck, who has to babysit his brother's rebellious children.

Along with 2 hours of special features, the limited-edition paint can package includes a collectible ornament, fake spider, Battle plan and a Wanted Poster.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Home Alone will be returning to theaters in November to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary. The 1990 film was shot in the Chicago area, the home of the Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink filmmaker. Back in theaters on November 8 and November 11, there will also be about a dozen Chicago-area theaters as well scheduled to show the hilarious flick.

The Home Alone: 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Christmas Edition arrives on Blu-ray and DVD October 6.
