Towards the beginning of the summer of 2015, Jimmy Fallon was rushed to the hospital for what the press was calling an injury to his hand, missing a few weeks of hosting The Tonight Show on NBC. After some Twitter updates and his explanation upon his return to the late night talk show, viewers learned of the medical term "ring avulsion," spiking the search term all across the Internet. It was definitely one of the most viral moments of Fallon's stint as host of the talk show, but we're glad he didn't lose that finger!
John Oliver: "Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption"
HBO's Last Week Tonight has tackled some controversial topics over its year-long run with former Daily Show correspondent John Oliver, but the host's segment on Televangelists definitely takes the cake. Oliver explained to his audience and viewers that this practice is still one of the most lucrative "scams" in the world, and to prove this he started his own religion to show how easy it is to not have to pay taxes on donated money. Thus, Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption was started and hilarity ensued for a number of weeks full of crazy amounts of money!
David Letterman: "The Final Top 10 Speech"
We all know that Late Show host David Letterman is an icon in the world of late night talk shows and comedy, and his infamous "top 10" lists will always be attributed to him. That's why his final top 10 list, which included a number of celebrity guests, was bittersweet and possibly the best on his final appearance as the host of the CBS show. Check it out right here:
Stephen Colbert: "Farewell Speech" to Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
Another retiring late night talk show host, Jon Stewart, also had a great send off, but the final goodbye from his longtime colleague Stephen Colbert had him and viewers in tears. We know Colbert for his character he played on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, airing after The Daily Show, but his sincere message to Stewart broke character, stayed genuine and was actually full of as many laughs as tears. He really captured what we'll miss about Jon.
Conan O'Brien: "CONAN Goes To Cuba"
An American late night TV host hasn't hosted an episode in Cuba since Jack Paar interviewed Fidel Castro for The Tonight Show in 1959 - until Conan O'Brien decided to take his TBS show, CONAN to the formerly embargoed nation in 2015. Clearly a monumental moment for TV, TBS, the host and the countries, the shows he filmed in Cuba also showed viewers something many Americans have never seen: what Cuba is actually like!
