Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing the Home Alone: 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition to Blu-ray and DVD. A mix of warmth, heart, and comedy, this holiday classic starring Joe Pesci (Goodfellas) and Macaulay Culkin (My Girl) definitely deserves your attention..

As we previously mentioned, the holiday comedy was written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club) and directed by Chris Columbus (Gremlins). 12 weeks at the top of the box office, Home Alone introduced the world to child actor Macaulay Culkin. After being left behind accidentally by his family, Kevin McCallister had to become an 8-year-old booby trap maestro when his home was being threatened. Kevin had to to defend his home against two blundering burglars, Harry Lime (Joe Pesci) and Marv Merchants (Daniel Stern).

5) The Special Features!

Along with 2 hours of special features, the limited-edition paint can package includes a collectible ornament, fake spider, Battle plan and a Wanted Poster. The collection also features all five Home Alone franchise films. After Home Alone, you can watch McCallister traveling to the Big Apple in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Alex Pruitt, played by Alex D. Linz, takes over in Home Alone 3. Mike Weinberg steps into Kevin's role in Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House. Christian Martyn plays Finn Baxter iin Home Alone 5: The Holiday Heist.

4) Stay For Awhile And Visit Chicago!

With the first Home Alone installment returning to theaters in November, pay particular attention to the background. Not done in a studio backlot, the 1990 film was shot in the Chicago area, the home of the celebrated Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink filmmaker. Hughes loved filming in his home town, and even shot inside his own high school in The Breakfast Club.

3) The Anti-Gremlins Movie

Film buffs may recall Chris Columbus as the screenwriter of the best horror/Christmas movie ever, Gremlins! After Gremlins started the call for the a PG-Rating, Columbus toned down the scares and aimed for the laughs in Home Alone.

2) The Pranks!

In the first installment, McCallister has to defend his home, which Harry and Marv are planning to rob his family. Full of slapstick humor, you actually forget Daniel Stern was also the voice-over narrator of another Kevin, Fred Savage's Kevin Arnold, in The Wonder Years!

1) John Candy's Best Performance!

We loved Kate McCallister (Catherine O'Hara)'s road trip subplot. As she races to get back to her son, Kate ends up sharing the ride with the helpful and good-natured Gus Polinski (the late John Candy). Check out one of the best performances from the Uncle Buck actor before ABC turns his flick into a television comedy series.

The Home Alone: 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition arrives on Blu-ray and DVD October 6.
