Brock Lesnar will appear on a live version of Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast, The Steve Austin Show, tonight on the WWE Network after the October 19, 2015 episode of Monday Night Raw. We've got five things for you to expect from the podcast, which should be one of the best Austin has ever done.
The Beast's appearance on the Stone Cold podcast is part of Brock Lesnar's Go to Hell Tour, which began with an appearance at the WWE Live from MSG house show special on the WWE Network in early October and concludes with a match with the Undertaker at Hell in a Cell on Sunday.
Fans have been looking forward to this podcast for weeks, so let's raise the hype even more and pick out five specific things we're expecting for tonight. Please keep in mind this is just what we hope and think will happen, not what WWE, Stone Cold or anyone else has confirmed as fact.
1) Stone Cold Steve Austin's Walkout from WWE in 2002
If you've ever listened to Austin's podcast or listened to/watched an interview with him, you may have heard tell a story that starts with the following words, "I was wrestling Ric Flair in a cage in a Columbus, Georgia..."
That story goes on to describe how Austin learned the creative plan for Monday Night Raw the following week. He was scheduled to lose to Brock Lesnar, at the time a rising young star and the hottest thing in the industry, in a King of the Ring qualifying match. Austin to this day says he had no problem losing to Lesnar, but he thought that a throwaway loss on Raw with no buildup was a wasted business opportunity. After some deliberation, he walked out on the company.
We've heard Austin tell this story many times, but we've never heard Lesnar's perspective on it. Hopefully both men dive into this subject tonight.
2) Lesnar's Matches with The Undertaker
Specifically, the ending of the Streak. That night in New Orleans still reverberates throughout wrestling history. Every fan remembers where he or she was that night, so to get Lesnar's side of the story would be a treat. When did he learn he would break the Streak? How did he feel about it? Did he say anything to Undertaker in the ring? When did Taker get hurt during the match? They could do an entire podcast just on this subject alone.
3) Lesnar's Departure in 2004 and Return in 2012
Just as Austin infamously left the company in 2002, Lesnar had a widely publicized departure in 2004. His match with Goldberg at WrestleMania XX has become infamous for the way the Madison Square Garden crowd turned on the two performers because the fans knew they were both leaving the company after that match. Austin was the special guest referee for that match, so he has some perspective on it, too.
4) Lesnar's Relationship with Paul Heyman
Lesnar's advocate, Paul Heyman, has been a friend and ally to him both on and off camera. If Lesnar walked out and went back to MMA tomorrow, it's likely we'd see Heyman follow him there. Heyman has pontificated time and time again about Brock, but now we get to hear The Beast Incarnate share his thoughts on the master of the microphone.
5) A Worked Angle with Austin
At the end of Austin's podcast with Paul Heyman several months ago, the two men seamlessly transitioned from a shoot interview to a worked angle in which Heyman tried to goad Austin into a match with Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 and Austin went into his Stone Cold character mode. The match is almost certainly not going to happen, but it would be fun to see Lesnar and Austin jaw at each other a bit.
