After months of missing training camp and the NBA preseason, following a three-week holdout, Tristan Thompson and the Cleveland Cavaliers have finally reached a deal the two can agree on: a 5-year, $82 million contract.
With the start of the regular season right around the corner, Tristan Thompson finally made the decision to stay with the Cavaliers. After LeBron James meddled to get the Cavaliers to agree to whatever Thompson wants, the two were finally able to agree to a deal.

As reported by USA Today, this has been a yearlong affair for the Cavaliers and Thompson, beginning with Thompson's rejection of a four-year $52 million contract, while asking for a deal somewhere around $90 million. The Cavaliers refused to give the 24-year old bench forward a deal that high, offering $80 million for five years. Thompson turned that deal down too, as the Cavs then attempted to give him a one year, $6.8 million offer, which was declined as well. On Wednesday, both sides finally agreed on an $82 million, 5-year deal, according to ESPN.
For a minute it seemed as though Cleveland was through with Thompson, as the Quicken Loans Area stripped down any and all signs of him. Even head coach David Blatt and Thompson's biggest supporter LeBron James seemed fed up with the situation. LeBron called it a "distraction" while Blatt was ready to move forward with or without Thompson on the team.
At least LeBron got what he wanted: Tristan Thompson on the team. Now Thompson is officially the highest paid bench player in the history of the NBA, and is among the six highest paid power forwards in the NBA too, as reported by Cleveland.com. Congrats to Thompson for scoring an awesome deal!
