Quentin Tarantino: Disney Stole My Theater Spot for 'Force Awakens'

Quentin Tarantino is "f---ing pissed off" at Disney over Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and he wants the studio to hear him loud and clear.

The Hateful Eight director went on Howard Stern's radio show Wednesday to slam the studio for bumping his film out of its slot at Los Angeles' Cinerama Dome.

Tarantino says Dome owners ArcLight told Disney it would honor its promise to show The Hateful Eight at its theater on Christmas. Disney then allegedly responded with a threat to pull Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the theater indefinitely if its film was not allowed an extended holiday run at the Dome.

The Dome is famous for its 110-foot screen and rare 70mm film projector. Tarantino, a native Angeleno, says he made the film "for the Dome."

Deadline is also reporting Disney actually secured the spot months ago; Star Wars fans could reserve tickets as early as Oct. 19 for The Force Awakens screenings at the Dome.

Apparently, Tarantino didn't get the memo until Monday. He told Stern on Wednesday that it was "real bad news and it f---ing pissed [him] off." He continued, "They are going out of their way to f--- me."

Tarantino continued: "It's vindictive, it's mean and it's extortion." He said his film poses no threat to the long-awaited sci-fi flick, and he found the move particularly baffling since he has "made a lot of money for the Disney corporation with Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction."

Stern defended Tarantino and issued a call-to-action to Disney CEO Bob Iger. "I don't give a s--- about this theater -- Quentin is a weirdo," Stern said. "They got the stupid 70mm, all the s--- that he cares about. You're sitting on top of the world, you need this? Do it for me."
