Golden Globes host and equal opportunity offender Ricky Gervais was just served a gift on a silver platter: Disgraced actor and director Mel Gibson has been announced as a presenter on the awards show.
According to ABC.net.au, the Hollywood Foreign Press announced this week that Gibson would be making a comeback as a presenter. Gervais, who never, ever lets one go by him, took to Twitter to express his joy.
"Mel Gibson is presenting an award at The Golden Globes. Thank you Jesus," the British funnyman tweeted, a comment that's a joke itself -- Gervais is an outspoken atheist, and Gibson is equally outspoken about his Catholicism.
This wouldn't be the first time Gervais took aim at Gibson from the Globes stage. During the 2010 ceremony, which he hosted, he noted that he liked to drink "as much as the next man, unless the next man is Mel Gibson," along with a few other not-too-subtle jabs at the actor.
As Mercury News reports, though, not everyone is happy about Gibson's appearance. Many have voiced their disapproval of the Hollywood Foreign Press' choice of presenter, citing the disgraced actor/director's anti-Semitic remarks and violent threats to ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, which were made public in leaked phone call recordings.

Gibson had been one of the most bankable stars of the 1990s, making millions of dollars per film and winning two Academy Awards directing and producing Braveheart, which he also starred in.
