Last month, "MStars News" reported that U.S. officials seized $1.8 million worth of counterfeit Hermès bags. But that seemingly large counterfeiting problem doesn't seem to have done much damage to the French luxury heritage brand's own handbag business, as sales have been steadily increasing. According to "Fashionista," Hermès said Thursday, Nov. 13, that revenue increased by a healthy 11 percent to 990.6 million euros — $1.2 billion — in the third quarter of 2014, and much of that was thanks to demand for the brand's French-made, high-end leather goods. That category grew 15 percent. Ready-to-wear also fared pretty well, growing 13 percent over the quarter, underlining what we knew: Recently departed Creative Director Christophe Lemaire has left some pretty big shoes to fill. Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle website Goop released its holiday gift guide with a variety of items for travel, cooking, kids, activities and clothes. Leave it to Gwyneth to put a $2,000 bike and a $4,800 juicer on the list! Here's Goop's Holiday Gift Guide introduction: "This year, we decided to shake things up a little bit and organize our annual gift guide by category — after all, it's pretty easy to identify people by a love of entertaining, art or, well, if you're like everyone at Goop, their deep and unabiding affection for jewelry. We also went straight to the source for our kid picks, who arguably out-sophisticated us. We tried to keep as much as possible at the $100 mark, though there are some splurges on here for your nearest and dearest. Plus, a girl can always dream." Read More »

A petition to get Gap Inc.'s Old Navy to stop charging more for women's plus-sized jeans has already gathered more than 35,000 signatures online. The petition charges Old Navy with sexism, noting that a pair of women's plus-sized jeans can cost about $15 more than regular jeans, while a pair of men's jeans costs the same no matter the size. Customers are also calling for Old Navy to put the larger apparel into stores, instead of just selling it online. Old Navy said the price difference has to do with craftsmanship. The items are specifically designed and manufactured for plus-sized women and cost more to make, Debbie Felix, an Old Navy spokeswoman, said in an e-mail. Read More »

According to "WWD," each of the 50 shades — named for a man past or present in Ford's life — will also be available for sale separately, beginning Nov. 28 at 12:01 a.m. on tomford.com for one day. On Dec. 26, it will reappear in-store in 200 of the brand's 400 global doors, and in 100 doors in North America. Ford says he's determined to build his beauty brand into an economic powerhouse rivaling that of corporate siblings Clinique, MAC Cosmetics and Estée Lauder. "If I don't believe I have something to say, and if I don't believe that I can compete, I don't do it," Ford said emphatically during an exclusive interview with "WWD." "I've never understood people who wanted to do something and said, 'Oh, I'm going to do this, but I'm just going to be the second-best.' I believe that I have a point of view in beauty, and I believe we have enormous potential." How much potential? The ambitious designer explains further: "I'd like to take it to a $3 billion business, and I'm not kidding at all," Ford said. Read More »
