Jack White is at his best when he's paying homage to his folk/blues roots, like on the White Stripes early single "We're Going To Be Friends." In stark contrast to the overblown, unhinged guitar sound of his recent solo albums, White performed the back-catalog track accompanied by a fiddle, double bass and banjo during Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating The Music of Inside Llewyn Davis, a star-studded concert surrounding the titular film that raised money for the National Recording Preservation Foundation. Inside Llewyn Davis already looks to be an extremely promising cinematic experience, both with a great story written by the Coen brother and a cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake. Inside Llewyn Davis, the Coen Brothers film about a struggling folk musician in the 1960s, hits theaters next month (December 6) but this week we get the opportunity to stream the movie's soundtrack! Considering the subject of the film, the soundtrack is most likely as important as the film itself and features stars like Oscar Isaac and Justin Timberlake, as well as guest performers Marcus Mumford and Bob Dylan. Inside Llewyn Davis is the newest Coen Brothers movie out in December of this year, following the story of a struggling folk musician in the 1960s. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake. As you can imagine, the movie is full of musical numbers, so as a special treat these songs will be brought to life on stage this Sunday at a benefit concert. The concert is called Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis and will include performances by The Avett Brothers, Joan Baez, Rhiannon Giddens of Carolina Chocolate Drops, Lake Street Dive, Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, The Milk Carton Kids, Keb' Mo', Marcus Mumford, Bob Neuwirth, Conor Oberst, Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine, The Secret Sisters, Patti Smith, Gillian Welch, Willie Watson, and Jack White.
