What happens when U.K. royalty meets the U.S. verison? Well, we found out last night as Jay-Z and Beyoncé met British royal couple Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton, with the royal visit to New York City scoring a meeting between royalty from both sides of the Atlantic. The two couples hung out at last night's game between LeBron James's Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets, while protests were staged outside the arena. Brooklyn's own royal couple — hip-hop kingpin Jay-Z and Queen of R&B Beyoncé — took the opportunity to meet William and Kate on the court before the start of the fourth quarter of the game, and the two power couples chatted and exchanged pleasantries in a meeting of two different worlds. As the royal pair entered the arena in the third quarter, the majority of the Brooklyn crowd stood to watch the royal pair take their seats amid much security and photo-taking, as a buzz hit the arena as though it was an NBA playoff game. It left Cleveland star Kevin Love, who was shooting free throws at the time, almost forgotten. Read More »
Royalty will visit Brooklyn today: in a couple of forms. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and his wife Duchess Kate Middleton will head to Barclays Center to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on NBA royalty in King LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. The normally unflappable King James, it seems, is a little bit awed by the guests, too, calling it a "huge honor" to be in attendance with the royal couple, who are expecting their second baby, a sibling to baby Prince George, in a matter of months. Lewis Hamilton knew one little slip up on the race track and he'd lose his chance to win the F1 world championship — and not only that, but he'd embarrass himself in front of royal family member Prince Harry. But Prince William wasn't there, quite possibly looking after his wife Kate Middleton instead. Hamilton knew his teammate Nico Rosberg could beat him in the individual world championship, meaning he had to better him, and he did just that. Despite many different racers from across the world taking part, it's the British driver, Hamilton, who will celebrate for the coming months with his girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger. Hamilton insisted, according to the BBC: "This is the greatest day of my life. 2008 was a great year in my life. The feeling I have now is way, way past that. The greatest feeling ever." Harry then added, "Lewis, well done for not making the British public sweat. You are an absolute legend." Read More »
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, met One Direction on Thursday at the Royal Variety Performance. For the momentous occasion of meeting Zayn, Louis, Liam, Niall, and Harry, Middleton chose a floor-length, black lace gown from Diane von Furstenberg, paired with a fancy updo. It's certainly a safe option, though since she was with her husband and father of her children (who also happens to be a Prince), William, it seems appropriate. Read More »
