While the 2013 'Firefly Music Festival' goers are still raving about their enlightening experience this past weekend at The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware, the time is already here to start planning for the return of the festival next year! The dates for Firefly 2014 (revealed only days after the wrap of this weekend's festivities) have officially been set for June 20-June 22, 2014 and pre-sale tickets were made available on Wednesday morning (June 26th). This year's 2nd annual Firefly Festival was undoubtedly a success with nearly 60,000 people flocking to the 87-acre Woodlands of Dover International Speeday to experience the 77-band lineup, notes The Inquirer. Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was about to walk into the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia on Friday where he and his band were staying but was stopped by a bodyguard. This security detail denied the singer access into the hotel because he did not know who he was an assumed he was trying to visit the other band that was staying there, The Rolling Stones. A brief altercation between the two imposing men took place and other security had to step in to break them up. It looks like this bodyguard was not a RHCP fan! Read More »

The association of the Justin Bieber with the manager for Metallica is strange enough, but saying he would spank the "Boyfriend" singer to get him in line takes weird to a whole new level. 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith notes the importance of music education in schools and is part of a group lobbying Congress this week. While touring the city of Washington, the musician fights for music funding in public schools, according to Rolling Stone, which helped get Smith to where he is today. The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has joined forces with National Association of Music Merchants president and CEO Joe Lamond to promote music education in Washington, D.C. on behalf of comprehensive music education in U.S. public schools, reports San Diego Union Tribune. The 51-year-old will spend the next couple of days, along with nearly 30 NAMM representatives, in our nation's capital & will meet with various politicians to make impassioned pleas on behalf of music education in the classroom.
