Sad days ahead, readers! It’s being reported that Jon Stewart is leaving his ever so beloved spot on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. As an incredible force for not only the network but also the viewers of America – largely because many younger people get their news from people such as Stewart, John Oliver and the once upon a time Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert – Stewart made the announcement of his upcoming retirement during last night’s episode with guest David Axelrod. News of Stewart’s leaving after a whopping 17 years of employment comes just a couple of months after Colbert left his Report for David Letterman’s Late Show seat as well as Larry Wilmore’s premiere for The Nightly Show. It’s official … Stephen Colbert is heading to CBS this coming Sept. 8! The former Colbert Report host ended his reign on Comedy Central at the end of last year, but it’ll be a little while until we see him taking the spot at the Ed Sullivan Theater. With David Letterman’s last show coming May 20, there will be a significant amount of time before Colbert shows his out-of-character persona on camera, but that just means we’ll be able to kick off the Fall 2015 in style! With the retirement of David Letterman rapidly approaching and former Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert taking his place, people suddenly realized that CONAN host Conan O’Brien is now the elder of the late night crew. Since newcomer Seth Meyers has taken over the Late Night spot, Jimmy Fallon has dominated and changed The Tonight Show (for the better) and Craig Ferguson now finished, that leaves O’Brien to keep the late night we’ve grown to love over the years going. Some might even say he’s not the “old man” of late night… Read More »
Well, it’s over, folks. The Colbert Report is officially done. Finite. Finished! Last night, Comedy Central aired the very last Colbert Report, and in the episode, it looks like host Stephen Colbert went head-to-head with Death … and won! That’s right, the now-immortal, soon-to-be host of the Late Show beat death and then went on to invite a slew of past guests out for a wonderfully emotional rendition of “We’ll Meet Again.” And yes, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart was there. Afterward the sing-along, Colbert took to his immoral world, leaving behind the Report studios and joining the likes of Santa Claus, Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek and Abraham Lincoln. Why? Well, why not! During last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert welcomed in director Christopher Nolan to discuss his newest Matthew McConaughey-led film Interstellar. Before he could get to his guest, however, the host took some time to announce that his Comedy Central hit has merely ten episodes left before leaving to take over the Late Show spot on CBS. Therefore, he thought it best to “tackle a subject” he’d be avoided for the past nine years whilst in the Report seat: abortion. Yes, at long last Stephen Colbert was about to announce that life begins at – Oh, look, Amy Sedaris showed up! Read More »
The current Ferguson protests - which began as a result of the "no indictment" decision against former Officer Darren Wilson surrounding the murder of unarmed teen Michael Brown - have caused quite a bit of stir in the news these days, especially after a number of St. Louis Rams players sported the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" gesture during one of their games. And following the St. Louis police asking the NFL the apology for the gesture (in which the Rams' coach basically told them to screw off), there's been much discussion about "black-on-black" crime, something The Daily Show with Jon Stewart easily picked up on. To further the discussion, the Comedy Central hit brought in their Senior Black Correspondent, Larry Wilmore, who will replace Stephen Colbert with The Nightly Show when The Colbert Report ends. Just last week, the comedian was a guest on Fallon's Tonight Show. And now, he has been announced as Craig Ferguson's final guest on CBS' Late Late Show. Of course, we haven't seen Leno stop by David Letterman's Late Show (which will soon be Stephen Colbert's program) to promote the series... yet, at least. Read More »
