Microsoft launched the Xbox One back in 2013, but also announced a slew of projects that were even more exciting than a new gaming console. One of which was a new television series airing on Showtime based on the popular video game franchise Halo, which would involve legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg! Since this announcement, we've seen Halo: Nightfall and Forward Unto Dawn, which had fans of the series figuring the Spielberg project was never going to happen. Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg is slated to direct his first feature film in collaboration with Warner Brothers since A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001). Spielberg signed on in March to direct the adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel, Ready Player One. As soon as he is done with producing a Roald Dahl adapted novel, The BFG, he will begin his work with Warner Brothers. It will be nice to see him return to the production company that the Hollywood Reporter says is how he got to "establish his Amblin baner," seeing as he produced a variety of films for WB in the 1980s like Gremlins and The Goonies.
