The X-Files S10E03: Mulder and Scully Meet Were-Monster David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson Recap

Fox airs the highly anticipated premiere of The X-Files Revival. In Season 10, episode 3, special agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) return to solve the mystery behind the meta-themed Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.

A couple is out in the woods, joking around; maybe they're even high. All of sudden, the twosome are frightened by the dead body they uncovered.

In his office, Scully wants to know what Mulder is doing with her poster, which is covered in pencils. Mulder is disappointed by his paranormal archives turning out to be pranks, jokes, and lies from crazy people. Scully has a new case for him and it has a monster in it.

As Scully dishes the facts, Mulder continues to be disappointed. The were-monster that Mulder doesn't believe in is accentually real, hunting down a transgender prostitute. After defending herself, the hooker points to the agents where the thing slithered off to. Questioning his life, Pasha (Kumail Nanjiani) is afraid of the were-monster.

Mulder and Scully end up discovering another dead body. With his phone taking pictures nonstop, Mulder and Pasha find themselves under attack. While chasing after the were-monster. Mulder and Scully are mislead by the shape-shifting creature. 

During the autopsy, Mulder's pictures are unfocused and blurry. Mulder believes they are looking for a man-sized lizard. It sounds silly but Scully is having fun on the case. At his motel, Mulder has to deal with his weird manager. Mulder then finds another room, which leads to a peep-hole to Scully's room.

In a flashback, the manager witnessed a man yelling at himself before he changed into the monster. Mulder debates with himself, arguing Scully's scientific facts before he agrees it's a monster. Does Scully agree with him? Scully says he's "bat-crap crazy!"

After Mulder hears about the town's history of the were-lizard, Scully has found their were-lizard at his job. During Scully's interrogation, the wee-lizard managed to escape. At the cemetery, Mulder pretends t be someone else while speaking to the shape-shifter. The were-lizard actually wants Mulder to kill himself but he wants an origin story. 

In a flashback, the were-monster was bitten by a human being. After transformed into human, the were-monster learned how to wear clothing and got a job. He's happy being a monster until he becomes human again. He then witnessed Pasha killing someone and got knocked out by the hooker. Mulder knows he was lying about having sex with Scully.

Mulder ends up having a drink after the were-monster calls him the monster. He wakes up to his ringing tone and picks up Scully's call. Mulder overhears Scully taking a beating from Pasha. He then arrives and finds Scully standing over a beaten-up Pasha. 

As Scully adopts a dog, Mulder meets up with the were-monster in the woods. Mulder admits he wants to believe as he shakes the hand of the were-monster.
