She is young, yet passionate. Her portrayal of emotions and peppiness in the film life has successfully engulfed the audience. Until now, it has only been fictional stories for actress Alia Bhatt. However, during a recent conversation, the Kapoor and Sons actress expressed her desire of featuring in a real-life based story of Pakistani singer, Nazia Hassan.
The biopic films trend has been surging in Bollywood as it has not only managed to attract people to theaters but has also helped foster a keen interest to watch the films and learn. Neerja, Mary Kom and Bhag Milkha Bhag are examples of the released biopic films. The upcoming ones include M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sarbjit and Azhar, to name a few.
When Alia was questioned to name a personality whom she would like to enact on screen, the actress told DNA India that she has always admired Pakistani singer, Nazia.
"I think a biopic on Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan would be great. After all, I also love singing and her life story is amazing."
Alia seemed to be prepared to answer any question about Nazia. She had researched Hassan's life quite well. What attracted Alia about Nazia was the Pakistani singer's life story? "She was really young and we lost her at a very early age. She has an interesting life story which can make a good film on celluloid."
Tagged as the Queen of Pop in south Asia, Nazia was born in Karachi, Pakistan. She had crooned various famous songs including "Aap Jaisa Koi" from the film Qurbani, and "Disco Deewane," whose modified version was incorporated in Alia's debut film, Student of the Year. Hassan died at the age of 35 after battling lung cancer in London.
If the producers are listening to her views, a convinced producer might cast Alia. While her recent release Kapoor And Sons has been garnering positive reviews, the actress is currently lined up with filmmaker Gauri Shinde's untitled project with actor Shah Rukh Khan.
