The Season 4 finale of The Americans is just hours away from airing on FX. Will Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) and Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys)find themselves meeting with Martha Hanson (Alison Wright) one more time?
In our recent recap, Elizabeth and Philip are feeling the pressure Gabriel (Frank Langella), feels determined to release Galander's disease. Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich) feels the burden weighing on him heavily, knowing that his former FBI boss murdered by KGB agents. Even though the "Patty" operation has been completed, the heartbreaking results are starting to take their toll on Elizabeth.
According to Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, "Stan finally learns a Jennings secret - but it's probably not the one you're expecting. Also, Agent Gaad's recent death has major consequences for Arkady and the Rezidentura. Oh, and we'll meet a new, but familiar face."
In an interview with Variety, actress Alison Wright describes her experience from episode 6 and 7 this fourth season, "The story written for Martha has been so full and specific. I've had three years of all the little things they've written - the things she's experienced and this journey she's gone on with this man - that's what I have to fill all those silences. I've had the good fortune of being able to pay into the bank slowly as we've gone along. Getting to exist in the state that she's in has been a lot of fun."
Wright adds, "From the moment [Philip] picks her up off the street she never goes home again. She's arriving in this safe house and I think it's terrifying to her to not know who these people are or where she is. She is existing outside of the comfort zone we've ever seen her in. Getting to use that fear and trepidation is super helpful."
The Americans continues for 1 more Thursdays on FX at 10pm.
