“This Is Us” Update: Episode 4 ‘The Pool’ Spoilers and Release Date; Episode 3 ‘Kylie’ Recap

"This Is Us" season 1, episode 3 entitled 'Kylie' was recently aired on NBC.  This episode left viewers hanging with the revelation that the earlier episodes of the NBC dramedy were all shot in the past. Viewers were starting to build on the relationship between Rebecca, played by Mandy Moore and Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia however this was not what it seems.

In 'Kylie' viewers saw a different story. Rebecca is now married to Miguel, played by Jon Huertas and not Jack. Dan Fogelman, creator of "This Is Us" told Entertainment Weekly that episode three and future episodes will see more of Rebecca and Miguel. The series will journey back in time once and a while to check out the past life of William, played by Ron Cephas Jones.

Fogelman further hinted that there might be a history with Rebecca that is still unknown to most of the characters. He said that Rebecca may have kept this secret for a very long time and this may carry until the middle of the season.

On the other hand, viewers saw how good a son Randall is to William even if he just met him. He was seen working hard to get him good medical care and ends up taking him to the doctor to hopefully get a better prognosis. Randall plays Sterling K. Brown and he said that William is terminally and this left him and Beth, played by Susan Kelechi Watson choosing whether or not Randall will connect or not. They are also arguing whether or not they will tell their children who William is or will they just send him on his way.

On the other hand, Toby, played by Chris Sullivan, wants to help Kate to gain self-confidence and to show her true talents. This could also be in line with her twin brother Kevin's transfer to New York to pursue his dream. Kevin leaving may tear up Kate who has been with his brother for more than three decades.

Fogelman also mentioned that episode 3 may have been the most emotional episode he has worked on.

CarterMatt revealed the plot of episode 4 'The Pool' saying that things will get more complicated for the characters. Jack and Rebecca will find out more about their family as well as their future while present-day Kevin will start to embark on his newfound acting career in New York.

Toby will run into his ex-partner while he's with Kate in a restaurant. Seeing how good-looking Toby's ex is sends Kate into doubting herself again. Finally, racial issues will be unearthed as William will be mistaken as a loiterer.

"This Is Us" episode 4 'The Pool' will air on October 18 on NBC.
