Fans said their goodbyes to Miguel Ferrer as Owen Granger in "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15. However, the show will pay its final respects to the actor through a special feature that will air in Episode 16.
CBS has planned a tribute for the late Ferrer in its upcoming episode that will air on March 5. According to TV Line, "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 16 will play Ferrer's rendition of Bob Dylan's classic "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." His band The Jenerators will be performing. The episode, titled "Old Tricks," will end with an in-memoriam card dedicated to the actor.
Ferrer made his final appearance as Assistant Director Owen Granger in "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15, "Payback." His last scene in the series seems fitting to his passing.
To recap, "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15 saw Owen at the hospital strapped to an I.V. Hetty (Linda Hunt) paid him a visit and Owen told her about his dream. He dreamt there was a buzzard who kept circling him. Hetty teasingly reprimanded him and told him to get some rest.
In a way, Ferrer's last scene in "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15 opens the door for several exit storylines. It remains unknown though, how Episode 16 plans to give Ferrer's character a proper sendoff accordingly with his death.
According to Deadline, Ferrer was able to film his last scene in "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15 before he died. He was also a mainstay character in "NCIS Los Angeles." He played Assistant Director Owen Granger for six seasons.
Likewise, aside from "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 Episode 15, the actor was able to return to his other role. He finished his scenes as FBI forensics expert Albert Rosenfield in "Twin Peaks" before he died in January from throat cancer. He was 61.
