"Sense8" Season 2 is on its way and it's certainly not getting cancelled. It has become one of the most binged shows that display positive queer relationships. One of the its stars, Jamie Clayton, talked about the Netflix series' transgender exclusivity and its importance in the current political situation in the United States.
U.S. president Donald Trump has caused a lot of controversy with his comments about the LGBTQ community. Many stars from current TV shows have spoken up about inclusivity in their series to support different ethnic backgrounds, genders, and sexual orientations. One of them is Jamie Clayton from Netflix's upcoming "Sense8" Season 2.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clayton praised Netflix's newest sci-fi show, "The OA", which includes a transgender character. During a panel interview for "Sense8" Season 2 and other Netflix series, Clayton added that it was time that TV shows became more open about including non-white, non-straight, and non-binary characters.
Clayton is the first trans woman to play a trans character on a show that doesn't revolve around transitioning or transgender discrimination. "You included a trans character but it had zero to do with the story. Because trans people just exist. I'm trans, I exist, I'm sitting here," she said during the panel. She further praised the creators behind the upcoming "Sense8" Season 2, "Orange Is the New Black", and "The OA".
The 39-year-old actress continued to emphasize how important it was to represent diversity on TV in the midst of a political upheaval. This is why the "Sense8" Season 2 cast knows that the show still has a lot of stories to tell and that it definitely will not be the last season for the Netflix drama. The show's Brian J. Smith (who plays Will Gorski) told Digital Spy that the show has not been axed.
Smith said that the fate of the show will rest on the hands of the audience and the Netflix department heads. So far, though, the show still has many loyal fans and its Season 1 was a big hit. "Sense8" Season 2 has yet to start, but many are eagerly waiting for its return. The actor also admitted that not everyone will love the show, which is a very polarizing piece of work. Either viewers love it or they hate it.
The show's Christmas special for "Sense8" Season 2 was met with a lot of excitement and positive reactions. The problem with Whispers is not yet over and actor Max Riemelt (Wolfgang in the show) said that the upcoming season will be bigger and better. The sensates will learn more about their powers and how their problems affect each other. Fans will have to wait for the show's return, which is just around the corner.
