The lineup for the first three episodes of the new season of "Saturday Night Live" was announced today (Sept. 9), and the middle episode includes a double duty performance and hosting gig from none other than Miley Cyrus on Oct. 5.
"Saturday Night Live's" 39th season will begin on Sept. 28 with host Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire. The Oct. 12 episode will feature Bruce Willis and Katy Perry.
NBC announced the hosts and musical guests for the new season this morning, and Cyrus shortly confirmed her double duty gig on her Twitter account. "HOSTING & PERFORMING ON SNL OCTOBER 5TH <3 #bangerz," she wrote in a short and simple message. Of course, Cyrus will be on the show to promote her fourth studio album "Bangerz," which is due out Oct. 8 in the US.
Cyrus has been the butt of jokes on "Saturday Night Live" in recent years. Vanessa Bayer plays the former Disney star in "The Miley Cyrus Show," where she pokes fun at the singer's fast talking and her highly supportive father Billy Ray. Fans of "SNL" will note that Bayer brought out her Miley impression to introduce Cyrus before her twerk-heavy VMA performance.
Miley Cyrus last hosted "SNL" in March 2011, with musical guests The Strokes. This will be her first time performing on the sketch comedy show.
