The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on December 13, 2013, but this week we are treated to some brand new, exclusive sneak peek clips of some choice scenes from the movie. With five new clips released, we get a great taste of many new characters as well as those returning.

In this first clip, we get to see stars Evangeline Lilly and Orlando Bloom show off their language skills with a conversation in Elvish. These two characters don't actually appear in The Hobbit, so this new clip gives us a good hint as to how Jackson worked them into the story.

We get to see Bloom's Legolas in the second clip as well, this time accompanied by Lee Pace in character as Thranduil. They seem to be interrogating an orc, but Thranduil does not like the information he is revealing. Check it out right here:

Moving away from the Elves, the third clip shows a conversation between Bard (Luke Evans) and Thorin (Richard Amitage). Both characters play a huge part in this story, so it's really great to see an interaction between them as a sneak peek at the film. Who do you think is more impressive in this clip?

The fourth clip shows our main character Bilbo (Martin Freeman) as he tries to hide the Ring from our beloved wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan). Fans of the series know that this Ring is the main focus of the Lord of the Rings trilogy that was so successful, so it's interesting to see how this film will use it.

Finally the last clip shows the beginning of one of the most exciting scenes from The Hobbit. How does Bilbo convince the Dwarves to get into those barrels?

Did these clips get you excited for the movie?
