The world's best footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, is fit and ready to lead his Portugal teammates against one of the scariest opponents they'll ever meet - Germany. Though Portugal does have the best player, Germany won the FIFIA World Cup only a few years ago and the players are eager to hold that top spot again. Let's take a look at both sides before today's incredible match.
"To make it clear, we have 23 highly skilled squad members. Ok, put another way, we've got a starting 14," Germany's coach Joachim Loew said, taking the attention off of Ronaldo. "But what counts is that we need them on high alert at all times. They have to be ready for action every minute and every second."
"Luckily enough we'll have some possibilities during the game and it's vital if we are to win matches at the World Cup in Brazil," he added. "If matches are all-square, the players have to come on, make all the difference and turn the game around. Call them "Special-Forces".
These are strong words for a strong team. Football/soccer fans understand that the German style of playing is much more physical than the finesse play of South America and othrer European squads. With Ronaldo coming back onto the pitch from an injury that almost made him miss the World Cup, Portugal must be careful to make sure the star player remains healthy for the rest of the knock-out portions of the tournament.
