The 2014 FIFA World Cup's final group, Group H, kicks off today with an exciting match between Belgium and Algeria. Sure the teams aren't usually in the top rankings, but we learned yesterday with the Iran v. Nigeria draw that names don't make the match. Though with the world watching, all eyes are on 23-year-old star player Eden Hazard, who can help his country progress into the tournament and maybe even win the whole thing!
You never know, it is football after all!
"He is one of the players who can be among the five best in the world. He has everything he needs and now it is up to him to release the handbrake and go," Belgium's head coach Marc Wilmots said. "He is 23 years old and playing his first tournament. We will see how he goes. He has everything he needs."
"The international press have called us an outsider and a favorite at the same time," said Wilmots. "It is a great pleasure to be back in the competition with players who are hungry and have a desire to achieve."
But we can't just count out Algeria. These teams have only met two times, with Belgium coming out victorious. Algeria needs to prove itself and really take on that underdog mentality to proceed.
