Robin van Persie and his fellow Holland players defeated the defending World Cup champions, Spain, last week. Today they go up against the weaker Australia team, which lost to Chile in the other Group B opening match. But we should never underestimate the underdog in the World Cup!
We'll have our eyes glued to van Persie, as he was clearly the man of the match against Spain. Dealing with a weaker opponent this time around gives the star player more room to flourish.
"You win the World Cup by winning the final," Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal said earlier this week. "That was just a first step, and we have to keep our feet on the ground. We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. We need to prove our ability to win against Australia, which will not be that easy."
Meanwhile, Australia's Tim Cahill is aiming to make a name for himself early in this tournament as a goal scorer and great footballer. Will he manage to upset the Dutch team with a goal or two?
So make sure to catch this Group B match up to see which team can advance out of this first round into a better chance of World Cup glory. The Netherlands is favored to win, but Australia could get lucky today.
