One week after the unexpected death of Nicole Kidman's father, she delivered a heartfelt and emotional eulogy at his funeral in Sydney, Australia Sept. 19.
"I'm a girl, a woman that was raised by an extraordinary man, a good man, a compassionate man, a strong man," she read. "He was a man that was always there for me, a thinker, my confidant, my friend and my protector."
Her father was formally known as Dr. Anthony Kidman, a clinical psychologist and director of the Health Psychology Unit in Sydney, Australia. Though is eldest daughter Nicole is known for fame and fortune that was not a major factor in the funeral. He was celebrated as a renowned psychologist with a deep love for his large family and beautiful wife, Janelle Ann Kidman, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
Nicole Kidman even recollected on the unconditional love and support he provided her throughout her divorce from Tom Cruise in 2001.
"He was the father that was on a plane, hours after I got divorced, to come and take care of me, staying with me for weeks for as long as I needed," she stated. "He was also the father who would, when I was crying tell me, 'Nicki, it's going to be OK'."
Dr. Kidman died after collapsing in a Singapore hotel while visiting his youngest daughter Antonia.
Reports on the cause of death have not yet been confirmed.
Nicole also learned the valuable of compassion from her father. "He is the reason I can't walk past someone on the street with their hands out without giving," she said.
The tears began rolling when Nicole Kidman explained to her father that she would take care of her mother. "It's okay, Papa, we're here to take care of her. I want to say to him, 'don't worry; we'll be able to take care of her, " she said.
"I love you papa."
