Nashville is in its third season and relationships are at the heart of all the drama this year. With Rayna choosing Luke over Deacon, and Avery and Juliette breaking up, there is a lot of issues with this season's couples. Another couple threatening to be in trouble is Zoey and Gunnar. Chaley Rose, who played Zoey, is opening up about her character's potential heartbreak.
Last week's episode revealed that Zoey is feeling inadequate when it comes to being No. 1 in Gunnar's life. Gunnar's first love just came into town, plus Scarlett decided to stay in Nashville after Gunnar talked to her, which is not good news for Zoey. All she wants is Gunnar to love her, but does he love her enough to stay with her?
"Zoey is madly in love with Gunnar (Sam Palladio). She wants to be that girl for him. She doesn't want to replace Scarlett (Clare Bowen), but she wants to have what they had. She also wants what she wants and that's the dream of singing and making music and making money doing it," Chaley explained in her People blog.
Despite the fact that Gunnar reassured her about their relationship, we aren't so sure these two will last the whole season as a couple. They started out of scandal, with Zoey dating Gunnar behind her best friend's back, so it makes sense that things would end rocky.
"The next episode is definitely looking up for Zoey, which is great, but after that it's definitely going to stop going her way. She just sees the bond Scarlett and Gunnar will always have and senses it will always be a thing between them. It's that songwriting chemistry they have, which kicked off their romance in the first place," the 36 Saints actress wrote.
Even though Chaley plays Zoey, she admitted she likes Juliette and Avery's storyline best in the show.
"Jonathan Jackson (who plays Avery Barkley) and Hayden Panettiere (who plays Juliette Barnes) are the best actors on the show. The scenes between them was like watching real life, so it's probably my favorite storyline," she explained.
"Zoey and Avery are best friends, even though we don't always show it," she continued. "They have worked together for months, so Zoey knows Avery is destroyed and heartbroken over Juliette."
Nashville airs Wednesdays on ABC.
