Well, the Super Bowl XLIX is coming up this Sunday, Feb. 1. To celebrate, the city of Seattle – who will be cheering on their defending champs, the Seattle Seahawks – has asked musician Dave Matthews to raise the Seahawks' 12th man flag during a ceremony this coming Thursday, Jan. 29. News of the Dave Matthews Band frontman's hoist comes just after the whole Tom Brady, New England Patriots – who will be playing the Seahawks this Sunday – "DeflateGate" scandal, which claims the team was using deflated footballs during their game last week.
Matthews is a longtime resident of the famed Washington city. Q13 Fox News reports that the ceremony of hoisting the flag comes in order to honor the Seahawks fans –– "the loudest home crowd in the National Football League," as DMB News is reporting.
Further news notes that Pearl Jam's very own Mike McCready raised the flag above the Space Needle before the Seahawks kicked off their first playoff game earlier this season.
DMB News also claims that Matthews headed on out to the NFC Championship Game, and bassist Stefan Lessard showed his loyalty when he went to a Seahawks game this year.
Rumor has it that he attended when the band was working on a new album. Oh boy!
Great, now we don't know what to be more excited about: Matthews raising the 12th man flag or the possibility of a new DMB album...

...probably going with the latter.
Super Bowl XLIX airs this coming Sunday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m. on NBC. But who cares –– DMB may be working on a new album!
