IFC is about to get a hell of a lot funnier. Well, in August. Former Saturday Night Live key players, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, have created a show for IFC titled Documentary Now! The series is "set to honor the best-told stories about the people and events that have captivated audiences for decades," per a press release from the network.
The first episode of Documentary Now! will premiere on IFC this coming August 20 at 10 p.m. The three former SNL names not only created the show, but will also be credited as executive producers and writers. And perhaps unsurprisingly, the series is being executive produced by Broadway Video, which, of course, is owned by the one and only Lorne Michaels.
Via a joint statement, the three creators have said, "We're all fans of documentary film and this allow us to use that love of documentary films and combine it with comedy to present a sort of unique take on the form."
The show will be tackling the below subjects in the first season:
- Mother-Daughter socialites.
- Guerilla-style journalists investigating a drug cartel in Mexico.
- An exploration of an Icelandic town's festival celebrating Al Capone.
And naturally, much more.
For more updates on Documentary Now, keep up with IFC.

This will be the second project Armisen has at IFC. His series Portlandia is currently one of the network's biggest draws.
