Choosing the best movie of the year is usually a tough task that could take weeks of research and most likely comes close to the New Year. According to the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) however, the best film of the year could be decided right at the end of summer! That's right, we've learned that Mad Max: Fury Road from director George Miller has been named the best movie of 2015, even though it hit theaters only a few months ago. To be fair, the films judged by the FIPRESCI premiered after July 2014, so there was a good year of movies to pick from. Still, Fury Road topped a ton of great films including the ten Oscar-nominated movies from the 2015 Academy Awards!

What brought this committee to the conclusion that Mad Max: Fury Road was the best of the year? Was it the use of practical effects or was it the overall story and direction?
According to the Hollywood Reporter (via UPROXX), George Miller has already responded to the accolade.
"You could have knocked me over with a feather! It's lovely to have this great cohort of critics acknowledge our collective labors in this way," he said in a statement this week.
