Today, Sept. 13, 2013, marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's final studio album "In Utero," the last offering from the groundbreaking grunge band before Kurt Cobain's suicide in April 1994. The funky beats and strong vocal performances are, of course, what help "The Electric Lady's" theme of droids-versus-humans feel more powerful. Lead single "Q.U.E.E.N." (featuring Erykah Badu) and the infectious tribal and disco influenced "Ghetto Woman" are purely irresistible with their groovy instrumentation and attitude-filled, introspective lyrics ("Hey sister am I good enough for your heaven / Say will your God accept me in my black and white / Will he approve the way I'm made? / Or should I reprogram the programming and get down?" she sings on "Q.U.E.E.N"). It seems as though "The Way" singer Ariana Grande should be having the best week ever. Her stellar debut album "Yours Truly" did debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, after all. It seems as though those New York Post rumors about Miley Cyrus and Kanye West recording new music together after the VMAs were true. After both music superstars left the MTV award show early, people speculated that it was to work on a remix to "Yeezus" track "Black Skinhead." Katy Perry holds strong at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with her first "Prism" single "Roar." After being stuck behind Robin Thicke's summer hit "Blurred Lines" for two weeks, "Roar" rose to the top spot in the US last week. Rock band Kings of Leon stopped by BBC Radio 1 yesterday (Sept. 10) to perform new cuts from their upcoming album "Mechanical Bull." In a performance that also included a stellar cover of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own," Kings of Leon also debuted a new song from "Mechanical Bull." Though the "GMA" appearance's purpose is unknown, it's more and more likely that Spears will perform her new song "Work Bitch" on the morning talk show.
